Annika graduated from NCAD in 2010. She has had two solo exhibitions, participated in the RDS Craft Competition exhibition and numerous others. Prizes won include the Crafts Council’s prize at Bloom 2008, the National University of Ireland Art and Design Prize 2010 and an Irish Ceramic Award 2011. She was resident artist at NCAD in 2013-2014.

A deep relationship with clay lies at the centre of Annika’s work. Her pieces have long been about finding the ‘right shape’, refining, and working until a form emerges that has tension and grace, appealing to the senses.

Her work aims to let the clay have more of a say, preserving the marks of the making process. The traditional method of wedging (kneading) clay became a starting point and inspiration, making a connection with generations of past potters.
