In memory of Monica Groves who sadly passed away this year - we are hosting a one day exhibition
at Mill Cove Gallery on the Beara Peninsula
on Sunday the 23rd September 2018 from 2.30pm to 6.00pm.
Telephone 027 70393 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details
Monica's early years as a young mother were fully involved and her only attempt to paint were black cat cards as good luck symbols for her burgeoning family! However she achieved her ambition under the tutelage of John Blockley RI,Moira Huntly and David Tress, and her work was soon selected by galleries.
Her clients included the OPW, House of Lords Westminster, National Library of Wales and European countries; also from Australia, Canada and the National Eisteddfod of Wales
Monica has had several residencies at Cill Raillaig and her work is in many books and publications eg Artist magazine, Pembrokeshire Artists, Pembrokeshre Life etc.
Monica and her husband Bart had dual British/Irish nationality and moved to Beara in 1999. From her studio on Bere island she spent long periods exploring the wild beauty of mountain lake and river mostly by boat, and her work focussed on the interaction of colour defining a spirit of place within a Celtic landscape.
