Maighread Tobin
Maighread is an abstract sculptor and painter based in West Cork. She is a graduate in Fine art (Sculpture) from Limerick School of Art and Design . Her inspiration is most often found in the natural world, shaped from years spent observing and absorbing landscapes formed by water, bogs salt marches and sea coast lines. She also has a deep connection with the botanical world. In her more recent work it has seen her increasingly drawn to pattern and a rich colour palette. Her work has been exhibited extensively in Ireland and internationally. She has participated as an invited artist in annual exhibitions including the RHA Annual Exhibition, Boyle Arts Festival and VISUAL, Carlow Arts Festival. She has exhibited numerous solo shows, most recently at Limerick City Gallery of Art ( LCGA ) and Lavitt Gallery, Cork. Her work is in numerous public collections in Ireland such as the National Self Portrait Collection; National Collection of Contemporary Drawing; Arts Council; OPW [including a work in the National Library]; Waterways Ireland, LCGA and University of Limerick. She has numerous public and private large scale bronze and mixed media sculptures located throughout Ireland.
